Din Syamsuddin Clarifies The Name Of Komjen (Ret.) Syafruddin At The NasDem Meeting

JAKARTA - Former Chairman of the Muhammadiyah Central Executive Board (PP) Din Syamsuddin clarified the name of the Deputy Chairperson of the DPP of the Indonesian Mosque Council (DMI) Komjen (Ret.) Syafruddin, during a meeting with the NasDem Party elite in Jakarta, Monday (6/7).

"The number of Islamic organizations invited to stay in touch is at the invitation, and what is included in the list is those who are willing. The name of the Deputy Head of the Mosque Council DPP is given a note in tentative or uncertain brackets," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, November 7.

Din explained the inclusion of the name, based on a meeting with DMI General Chair Jusuf Kalla at Monas at the Palestinian Grand Action.

"I informed him (Jusuf Kalla, ed), that there will be a group of leaders/inspectors of Islamic Organizations to the DPP of the NasDem Party on November 6, 2023, to convey their aspirations. And asked if there was a representative from DMI who wanted to join. By mentioning that maybe the Deputy Chairperson of the DMI could represent. I was wrong in understanding Pak JK's sign that he agreed," he explained.

When the NasDem Party asked for a list of names that would be present for the purpose of providing seats, the name Deputy DMI was included, but in a tentative or uncertain note.

"When he sent the message, he would not come, on the grounds that he did not participate in practical politics, the list was not immediately corrected (because it was written tentatively or uncertainly)," said Din.

Din emphasized that the name Deputy General DMI was not correct, or a term with a negative connotation, because there was no need at all for that.

"Saya sudah minta maaf kepada Pak Syafruddin, namun karena beras tak resultanya sebagai tokoh nasional dan internasional, dia memprotes lewat media," jelasnya.

Din apologized and did not know at all that the incident would damage his reputation as a national and international figure, as given by several media.

Previously, Deputy Chairperson of the DPP of the Indonesian Mosque Council (DMI) Komjen (Ret.) Syafruddin Kambo protested to the former General Chairperson of the Muhammadiyah Central Executive Board (PP) Din Syamsuddin, because his name was registered in the group during a visit to the NasDem Party elite in Tower NasDem, Jakarta, Monday (6/11).

"Yesterday I told Mr. Din, I was not involved in practical politics, the Mosque Council should not be brought into politics, but my name is still included in the group list," he said.

He also regretted that Din still included his name in the list of groups who attended the visit with political nuances. Because, he said, the visit was a form of open support for the Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar couple.
