Scarlett Johansson Disputes AI Applications That Use Self-Clips Without Permission
The app is Lisa AI: 90s Annual & Avatar. Some time ago, the app uploaded a 22-second ad on X, formerly Twitter, using Johansson's clip without permission.
Representatives from Johansson said that the actor had never collaborated with the app. The artist was never paid to be used as an advertisement and not a contracted spokesperson.
According to Johansson, this case needs to be handled legally due to its detrimental impact. Apart from apps that do not want to lose, the use of clips without permission for commercial purposes is not the right action.
"We don't take these things lightly. In accordance with the actions we usually take in this situation, we will handle them with all our legal remedies," Kevin Yorn said, quoted by VOIdariVariethy.
This ad was first discovered on October 28. Initially, the ad used Johansson's old clip while recording behind the scene of the Black Widow film. In the clip, Johansson said, "How are you, friends? This is Scarlett and I want you to come with me."

After that, there was a picture covering the Marvel player's mouth until the screen was transient and showing an AI-made photo that looked exactly like Johansson. Not only that, the use of AI sounds is also used in advertisements.
Johansson was heard to continue promoting the app by saying, "It's not limited to avatars only. You can also create images with your text and even AI videos. I don't think you should ignore it."
In fact, Lisa AI has given a minor warning under the ad that all images and voice usage are produced by her side and have nothing to do with Johansson.
However, the creation of this manipulation clip remains a bad act considering Lisa AI did not ask for permission first. After this issue became serious, Lisa AI removed the ad on all of its platforms.
