Populix Survey: Shopee Pay Later Becomes A Widely Used Brand
JAKARTA - The latest research from Populix entitled "Unveiling Indonesia's Financial Evolution: Fintech Lending and Paylater Adoption" reveals the increasing trend of paylater services among Indonesians.
The survey, which was conducted in September 2023 on 1,017 male and female respondents in Indonesia, found that 55 percent of respondents stated that they had made payments using paylater services.
Of this number, the majority of users came from the island of Java (55 percent), and were dominated by the millennial generation (63 percent) from the top social class (59 percent).
Currently, many paylater service provider brands have entered Indonesia. Of the many brands, Populix found Shopee Paylater was the Top of Mind of respondents with 89 percent.
Then followed by GoPay Later in second place with 50 percent, and Kredivo Paylater in third place with 38 percent. Not only that Akulaku Paylater (36 percent) and Traveloka PayLater (27 percent) are also one of the brands that many respondents know.

In addition to occupying the Top of Mind position, Shopee PayLater is also the most used brand with 77 percent. Followed by GoPay Later (28 percent), Akulaku Paylater (18 percent), Kredivo Paylater (14 percent), Traveloka PayLater (9 percent), and Indodana (4 percent).
"The affordability of paylaters is increasing for the community, the flexibility in payment of installments, to the ease of registering encourages the use of paylaters as an innovative payment solution to make transactions," said Timothy Astandu, Co-founder and CEO of Populix in his report.
More than that, this survey also revealed that the Indonesian people are quite wise in managing their finances, where this can be seen from the majority of respondents who only have paylater installments of less than 1 million rupiah in a month.
