Mesut Ozil Supports Uighur And Palestinian Muslims
JAKARTA - Efforts to keep politics away from sports are impossible. In football, let alone. Political attitudes are often shown by many parties. From federation owners to players. The narrative of support is increasingly heard when humanitarian issues are a trigger for attitude.
World soccer star Mesut Ozil has felt it. His heart is often burned to see injustice for Muslims in the world. This fact made him often side with those marginalized: Uighur Muslims and Palestine.
The conflict that plagued the Uighur Muslims was so complex. It all started when the Chinese Communist Party won the Civil War in 1949. The victory made Xinjiang part of its territory. An area inhabited by ethnic Uighurs.
Unlike other Chinese regions dominated by Han ethnicity. The ethnic and cultural differences made Uighurs like stepchildren. Even though the status of the autonomous region was given to Xianjiang, it became official called the Uighur Xinjiang Autonomous Region (XUAR).
The Chinese government then had the idea to build Xianjiang. After that, the massive migration of Han ethnicity to Xianjiang began. Instead of being able to live side by side in peace, the two of them often went into conflict.
The lighters vary. The ease of Han ethnicity getting job certainty is one of them. While Uighurs are forced to enjoy life ahead. The conflict then leads to persecution of the Uighur ethnicity.
They were forced to live like Han ethnic groups. Mainly, the coercion of Chinese language. The severe treatment made Uighur Muslims perpetuate demonstrations. Uighur Muslims were later arrested and tortured by the government.
They were gathered in a detention camp. Since then the mosques began to be destroyed. Let alone religious sites. The world anticipates then condemns the inhumane behavior of the Chinese government in 2018. The world soccer star who plays for Arsenal, Mesut Ozil, does not want to be left behind.
The Muslim footballer condemned China's action. He hopes that major Islamic countries will help the fate of the Uighur Muslims. Ozil conveyed the message openly via the Twitter medium (now: X). He wants Uighur Muslims to live in peace and peace.

Religious services were killed one by one. Brothers and sisters were forced into the camp. Instead, Chinese men were placed in their families. Women were forced to marry men outside Uighurs. Apart from all of this. Muhammad could not speak. The voice was not heard. Muslims cannot claim. It is not known that cruelty is a crime, "explained Mesut Ozil on his Twitter / X account @M10, 13 September 2019.
Ozil's statement in fact brought deep wounds to the whole of China. Ozil received many criticisms from individuals and groups. The majority of the Chinese people believe the news regarding the sad fate of Uighur Muslims is a lie. Uighur Muslims are not arrested and tortured, but fostered.
Arsenal, who became a vehicle for Ozil, took a stand. The club from London England tried to urge Ozil not to make a political statement. Politics cannot be included in the realm of sport. In fact, Ozil's opinion is personal, not a club. However, Arsenal considered it different.
The statement is considered to have a big impact. Mainly, the existence of Premier League and Arsenal fans in China. Ozil was ostracized from the squad. His salary was lowered. At its peak, he chose to leave Arsenal and anchored to Turkish club Fenerbahce.
He took this attitude because of injustice matters that he had to defend. Ozil's narrative of defense is not only perpetuated by Uighur Muslims. Muslims who were victims of the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict were also criticized.
He stands with Palestine. All kinds of Israeli violent agendas like racial destruction were opposed. Take for example when Israel perpetuated airstrikes on Palestine in May 2021. In May, it should be a day of joy because it is close to Eid al-Fitr, so gray.
Dozens of people died, and 12 of them were children. Ozil couldn't help but feel sad. He then sent prayers to ask for safety for those who were victims of Israeli crimes. He also condemned the violence perpetrated by Israel like an occupation. In fact, to this day.
"Happy Eid al-Fitr to all Muslims around the world. May our fasting and prayers be accepted in this blessed month - My prayers accompany those who cannot celebrate (Palestinian Muslims) peacefully today," Ozil said via Twitter account @M10, May 13, 2021.
