Minister of Law and Human Rights Leads Discussion on the Palestine Issue at the 61st AALCO
NUSA DUA - Minister of Law and Human Rights Yasonna H Laoly led a discussion regarding the Palestinian issue at the 61st Asian-African Legal Consultative Organization (AALCO) Meeting in Nusa Dua, Badung Regency, Bali.
"This is one of the important agendas regarding violations of international law in Palestine, the occupied territories by Israel, and international legal issues related to Palestine," said Yasonna, who is also the 61st President of AALCO at the opening of the session in Nusa Dua, Badung Regency, Bali, Wednesday, October 18.
In the fourth general session, Palestinian Minister of Justice Mohammad Al Shalaldeh as the leader of the delegation conveyed the latest conditions in Palestine with the bomb attack on one of the hospitals in the country on Tuesday (17/10) which caused the death toll to increase to an estimated total of 3,600 people.
"These serious crimes and violations require legal and judicial mechanisms so that perpetrators can be prosecuted and sentenced," he said.
Al Shalaldeh called the Israeli military attack not only a war crime and humanity but also genocide in Palestine.
For this reason, he said, in the 61st AALCO meeting he made a number of important points, including the need for a forum to produce resolutions regarding serious violations of international law and human rights.
Additionally, Al Shalaldeh said AALCO needs to form a legal committee that will hopefully be able to demand serious legal violations by Israel be brought before international courts.
In the general assembly there was no conclusion regarding the discussion of the Palestinian issue after a number of delegation representatives expressed their views.
The general assembly was then continued with a discussion of the next theme related to legal regulations in outer space.
After attending the forum, the Indonesian Minister of Law and Human Rights Yasonna H Laoly held a short meeting with the Palestinian Minister of Justice Mohammad Al Shalaldeh.
