Dozens Of Cockfighting Gamblers Scattered When Raided By Police And TNI
JAKARTA - Joint personnel from the Leihitu Police, members of Brimob, and members of Koramil 1504 Leihitu dispersed a number of residents involved in alleged gambling cases, especially the type of cockfighting gambling.
"This cockfighting stunt took place in Hulung Hamlet, Hitu Country, Leihitu District, Central Maluku Regency," said Head of Public Relations of Ambon Police Ipda Janete Luhukay, Sunday, October 15.
The raid on cockfighting gambling was led by the Head of the Leihitu Police, Iptu Moyo Utomo, together with the Dandim 1504 Leihitu, Captain (Inf) Dewa Agung.
"When the raid took place, about 50 people who were at the scene were scattered trying to escape," he said.
However, their efforts to avoid law enforcement were thwarted by 15 members of the Sector Police, members of Brimob, and Koramil personnel involved in the raid.
The result of this raid was the arrest of dozens of chickens used in illegal cockfighting events so that they were immediately secured, while chicken bags were burned at the location.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Leihitu Police, Iptu Moyo Utomo, said that the game of cockfighting is an illegal act and violates the law in Indonesia.
"That's why law enforcement officers, both Polri and TNI, jointly make efforts to eradicate this practice continuously," said the police chief.
He said this joint activity shows the commitment of the authorities to eradicate illegal gambling and protect the public from the negative impacts that can arise from these kinds of practices.
