Various Reasons PSI Has Not Provided Support For Presidential Candidates Even Though It Often Closes Prabowo's Camp
PSI Secretary General Raja Juli Antoni revealed various reasons why his party has not provided support to one of the presidential candidates (candidates) for the 2024 presidential election even though it is often seen attending the Prabowo Subianto supporting political party meeting.
One of them, PSI Chairman Kaesang Pangarep is still listening to grassroots aspirations regarding his choice of presidential candidate.
"Regarding support, as conveyed by the chairman, we are still waiting for several areas that need consolidation first, regional friends who have not been consolidated downwards but of course before our deadline we will declare," said Raja Juli Antoni in Kertanegara, Kebayoran Baru, Thursday, October 12, evening. In addition, Raja Juli continued, PSI is also still considering the opinion of legal experts regarding the obligations of non-parliamentary parties to the support of presidential and vice presidential candidates.
"Frankly, we ask legal experts whether non-parliamentary parties are obliged to provide support or not. If those in parliament, if they don't give their support in the future, they won't be allowed to participate in the general election. This is a legal expert, some say it's okay, some say it must be because there is a vote. Because the DPR seat is the basis for vote. PSI has already received 2.6 million votes or 1.89," he explained. However, the King ensured that PSI would provide support to one of the presidential candidates. However, party leaders have not finished accommodating the aspirations of the people so it is uncertain when PSI will announce.
"I think we will give support but wait a little longer. Let Mas Kaesang listen to the aspirations below," said Raja Juli. Is it before the first day of registration on October 19 or towards the end of registration.
"I don't know when, yes, it's not finished getting the clue from the community from the people. Second, I'm looking for a good day too," continued the deputy minister of agrarian and spatial planning.
Raja Juli added that so far PSI cadres have supported a number of names. However, he said, PSI management was very honored with Prabowo's remarks at his residence in Kertanegara. Even Kaesang and his staff plan to visit Hambalang. It is known, before moving closer to Prabowo, PSI had declared Ganjar Pranowo as a presidential candidate.
