Police: Airsoft Gun Permit Allows Home Training
The National Police Headquarters said the issuance of permits for ownership and use of airsoft guns allowed owners who are members of shooting clubs to practice at home or outside the club's location, shooting range, and match area.
"Previously, those who were allowed to practice at home or other locations only applied to professional shooting athletes to prepare for matches," said a member of the Intelligence and Security Agency (Baintelkam) of the National Police Headquarters for Public Services Ipda Wisnu Yudha Prawira, quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, October 10.
Wisnu said that exercises outside the location that already have a permit could be carried out because the gun owner has been supervised through a permit for ownership and use of an airsoft gun.
In addition, the letter also needs to be accompanied by permission from the local regional police, to ensure that there will be no disturbances in order and security of the surrounding community, and to avoid the misuse of the replica of firearms.
"It could be outside training, if you want it in the yard of cafes, the important thing is that you have a permit for ownership, plus the local police permit is reported regularly every month," he said.
The National Police Headquarters encourages airsoft gun owners to monitor replica firearms that are members of shooting clubs in the country to immediately obtain a permit for possession and use of weapons to the local Police.
Wisnu said that up to now, 1,200 users of airsoft gun weapons are members of shooting clubs throughout Indonesia. In addition, 2,000 airsoft gunimports have obtained entry permits for the country.
"Our data is 1,200 that have been circulated and used by shooting clubs, but another 2,000 that have obtained import permits are still in the data on how many have been circulating to users," he said.

Wisnu explained that the application for a permit to own and use an airsoft gun must complete the recommendation evidence from the local police chief, recommendations from the shooting club under the parent sports organization airsoft gun, and photocopy of import permits or domestic purchases.
In addition, according to him, the application needs to prepare other administrative requirements, namely a letter of application for ownership or distribution, photocopy of KTP, KK, and KTA of the club, then attach SKCK, a health certificate, a statement letter that will not abuse, and a photo fit of size 4x6.
Permits for the use of airsoft guns for one year, starting from the date of issuance, and must be extended annually at the local Police. Meanwhile, the ownership permit is valid for five years, starting from the date of issuance and must be updated at the National Police Headquarters.
