Finally! Honda And Marc Marquez Separate
JAKARTA - Honda Racing Corporation and Marc Marquez finally separated faster. Both parties agreed to terminate the four-year contract prematureally.
MotoGP 2023 will be Marquez's last season with Honda. The Spaniard is rumored to be joining one of the Ducati teams in the 2024 MotoGP.
"With one year remaining in the four-year contract between HRC and Marc Marquez, both sides have agreed together to end their cooperation after the completion of the 2023 MotoGP World Championship season," HRC said in an official website.
"Both parties agree that this is in the best interests of continuing other routes in the future in order to achieve their respective goals and targets," the statement continued.
This move ended 11 years of cooperation between Marquez and HRC where they won six premier class world championships, five triple crowns, 59 wins, 101 podiums, and 64 pole positions together.
Marquez won his debut in the premier class by riding the Honda RC213V at the Grand Prix of the Americas in Austin, Texas in 2013. That made him the youngest driver to win in the premier class, and then become the youngest premier world champion of the same year.
In 2014, he defended his title and won 10 consecutive races at the start of the year, and won additional titles in 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019 as a HRC racer with the Repsol Honda team.
"Both parties will continue to provide full support for the remainder of the 2023 MotoGP season. HRC wishes Marc Marquez the best in his future efforts," the statement concluded.
