Only Accommodating 80 Traders, Pekanbaru City Government Submits Revitalization Of Palapa Market To The Ministry Of Trade Worth IDR 3 Billion
PekanBARU - Pekanbaru City Government (Pemkot), Riau Province, submitted a proposed revitalization of Palapa Market phase II in accordance with building specifications to the Ministry of Trade (Kemendag) of the Republic of Indonesia (RI) worth IDR 3 billion.Head of the Pekanbaru Industry and Trade Office (Disperindag), Zulhelmi Arifin, said that his party proposed the second phase of revitalization for 2024. This is in line with the new building to revitalize the Palapa Market phase I which has not been fully accommodated by traders."We ask again for the revitalization (Pasar Palapa) phase II. Because the kiosks there have been there for a long time, they are 20 years old, the building," he said in Pekanbaru, Antara, Friday, September 22.The building being built in the form of a Hall is currently only able to accommodate around 80 traders. For this reason, we hope that there will be financial assistance for the development of this market.According to him, the building that will be revitalized is right in front of the construction of phase I revitalization. There are a number of merchant kiosks there that will be rebuilt.The man who is familiarly called Ami said that the revitalization phase II of the concept remains the same as the current development, which is in the form of a large hall. Later inside, small kiosks will also be made for traders."The concept is that we make another hall inside there is a kiosk. So, the merchant is really comfortable," he explained.Currently, the Palapa Market revitalization work process phase I has almost reached 60 percent. This revitalization is also assistance from the Ministry of Trade worth IDR 3 billion and was reviewed directly by the Minister of Trade Zulkifli Hasan last week.
Disperindag hopes that ministry officials and the President of the Republic of Indonesia will symbolically inaugurate it in Pekanbaru. Moreover, with the assistance of the development of 64 markets throughout Indonesia by the central government."Of the 64 markets that have received assistance throughout Indonesia and one of us, it could be the minister or the president who inaugurated it in Pekanbaru later," he said.
