The Governor Of East Java Hands Over The Key To Permanent Residentials To Flood-affected Residents On The Slope Of Mount Ijen
BONDOWOSO - East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa symbolically handed over the key to permanent housing to families affected by flash floods on the slopes of Mount Ijen, Bondowoso Regency.
"The calm is vital. Because the location of the house was previously near the slopes of Mount Raung. So that when it rains or currents are strong, it is prone to flooding and disturbing residents. Hopefully in this new location residents will be calmer, safer and more comfortable," said Khofifah as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, September 21.
The governor said the permanent residence was built after the flash flood disaster hit Kalisat and Sempol villages, Inspector General District, in February 2023.
He hopes that the new homes for dozens of residents affected by the flash floods that almost occur every year will provide more peace and comfort, because they are built in a safer location than before.
Khofifah said that the permanent residence is currently filled with 29 families of Sempol Village and 49 residents of Kalisat Village. Located in a strategic area, this residence is close to health facilities, markets, places of worship, education centers, and government offices within a distance of approximately 2-3 kilometers.
"Alhamdulillah, the 78 houses are also complete with the MCK. Meanwhile, some infrastructure, pipelines, and road access will continue to be boosted to accelerate the completion," said the Governor.
The construction of permanent housing for residents affected by this flash flood, continued Khofifah, is a collaboration between the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), the East Java Provincial Government through BPBD, and the Bondowoso Regency Government, and a total of Rp13.18 billion was issued for the construction of permanent housing.
In detail, BNPB provided assistance with five work packages with a total budget value of Rp. 11.6 billion for the relocation of 65 housing units in Kalisat Village, the relocation of 1,500-meter-long environmental roads in Kalisat Village, the relocation of 3.000-meter-long environmental drainage in Kalisat Village, procurement of self-driving tanks in Sempol and Kalisat Villages.
Meanwhile, the East Java Provincial Government through the East Java Provincial BPBD provided assistance of IDR 1.17 billion. This budget is used for the construction of bathroom facilities, toilets in 78 housing units and the construction of 300-meter-long environmental roads.

The inauguration of this permanent residence also coincided with the month of Rabi'ul misal which was the birthday of the Prophet Muhammad SAW. On that occasion Governor Khofifah invited the public to read the prayer together.
"There are so many people in East Java when they enter a new house, they read the Prophet's prayer. This time, ladies and gentlemen enter a new house by reading the Prophet's prayer which is led directly by the Governor. Hopefully we will get the blessing of the Prophet Muhammad," he said.
A total of 78 houses were built with a fixed occupancy area of 4x6 m2 built on 7x14 m2 land.
The area of land used is land owned by Perhutani with a land area of approximately 4.63 hectares, while the area of land used for the relocation of houses is approximately 1 hectare, so that each beneficiary gets an area of 98 square meters.
After the inauguration, Khofifah took the time to visit the houses that would be used as permanent residences. Not to forget, he also greeted the residents.
