Yogyakarta Police Arrest A Gang Of Illegal Subsidized Fuel Sale And Purchase Groups

Yogyakarta City Police (Polresta) arrested a gang of misuse of subsidized fuel oil (BBM) types of Pertalite that acted in the areas of Yogyakarta City and Sleman Regency, Yogyakarta Special Region.

Head of the Yogyakarta Police Criminal Investigation Unit AKP Archye Nevada said the sale and purchase of subsidized fuel illegally by the gang had been going on since early 2023.

"We have arrested seven suspects," Archye said as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, September 20.

The disclosure of the case stems from a public report which was then followed up by arresting a member of a gang with the initials IP on September 14, 2023 at around 23.30 WIB on Jl. Dr Sardjito, Terban, Gondokusuman, Yogyakarta.

At that time, IP was carrying three jerry cans containing pertalite fuel to be sold to a number of shops in the Yogyakarta and Sleman cities.

Archye said the IP suspect and his gang bought an average of 800 liters of Pertalite fuel at a number of gas stations which were then buried in a rented house before being distributed to a number of shops.

After arresting IP, the police continued the process of further investigation and investigation for the development of the case so that other perpetrators with the initials AD (29) and BD (49), who are investors, as well as SF (21), DY (21), HJ (28), and SG (21) who act as buyers and delivery providers of fuel.

"The average monthly net income is less than Rp. 11 million and their employees are paid Rp. 1.5 to 2 million," he said.

Regarding the modus operandi, the suspects modified the motorcycle tank so that it could load more Pertalite fuel and then were sucked in and transferred to jerry cans for sale in the Yogyakarta and Sleman regions.

The next mode, they buy fuel with jerry cans using an iron basket accompanied by the provision of a Rp2,000 tip to unscrupulous gas station officers.

"When buying, conditions are at night and they are circulating at night," he said.

The police have secured evidence in the form of a Honda Vario motorcycle, two Suzuki Thunder motorcycles, 36 35 L jerry cans containing Pertalite fuel, 35 35 35 empty jerry cans measuring 35L, one book with green, Rp800,000 in cash.

For their actions, the suspects were charged with Article 40 number 9 of Government Regulation in Lieu of Law Number 2 of 2022 concerning Job Creation in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code with a maximum imprisonment of six years and a maximum fine of IDR 60 billion.
