New Generation MG 3 Supermini Design Revealed Before Launch In 2024
JAKARTA - The supermini-powered gasoline category car is increasingly rare in the UK, given the exit of a number of models such as Ford Fiesta and Kia Rio, and currently MG 3 is one of only three cars that are still on sale for less than 15,000 pounds, or around Rp286 million.
The successor to the new generation of supermini MG 3 is planned to be launched in the coming months but the design has been leaked to the public while testing is ongoing, meaning the car is close to its production-ready status.
According to Autocar's report, September 19, its successor is predicted to adopt mid-hybrid technology to reduce emissions, which coincides with broader inflationary pressures and the introduction of highly updated interior technology and driver assistance, will make it a more expensive proposition, but what is clear is that MG officials hope to remain one of the most affordable new cars in the market.
It is known, MG 3 is currently a minor player compared to the compact MG ZS and MG HS SUVs, only managed to sell 2920 units across Europe in the first half of 2023.
These figures do not support the conversion of MG 3 into electric cars, which is why this model remains a gasoline model.
"Developing small electric cars is only slightly cheaper than developing a larger car. Then half the price is batteries, so being a car marketed for 25,000 is impossible," said MG UK Commercial Director Guy Pigounakis to Autocar.
