Akomodir Pangsa Pasar Yang Besar Di China, BMW Siapkan Design Khusus Untuk Model EV Terbaru

JAKARTA - BMW plans to design special Chinese models based on the Neue Classe platform to suit Chinese tastes that are in demand for electric vehicles.

This news first circulated earlier this month at the IAA Mobility Munich Motor Show 2023 and was discussed by Automotive News Europe.

CEO Oliver Zipse announced this plan during the World New Energy Vehicle Congress.

"Unfortunately, I can't provide much information about this but the BMW Design Shanghai is already working on custom designs and features for Neue Classe models that will be aimed specifically at China," he said, quoted by Carscoops, September 19.

It is known, the concept of Vision Neue Classe car is an overview of how BMW's future cars will look. With a clear futuristic design with the hallmarks of a distinctive BMW design, it is likely that BMW Series 3 will be the first to emerge from the concept.

BMW is taking a special approach to the Chinese market is nothing new as other manufacturers are also implementing the same thing considering electric cars tend to become luxury goods around the world, in China, the situation is the opposite.

So, to ensure that they do not keep the country's adequate customer base apart, these brands focus on product offerings that have the same look and feel but with different machine options.

BMW's head of design, Domagoj Dukec, firmly conveyed earlier this year when asked about this topic.

"A luxury electric car doesn't work in China, because they don't connect electricity with luxury. A gasoline car is better for expressing luxury. So electric cars are considered cheap, and everything related to combustion engines is considered expensive," Dukec said.

However, BMW has not detailed the Neue Classe concept created for the Chinese market, BMW could develop a driving sensation that is more similar to a fuel car like a sound.

The IAA Mobility Munich Motor Show 2023 revealed that BMW plans to launch its first Neue Classe model by 2025, but which is produced in China will not be available until 2026. After that, the company plans to launch six new Neue Classe models by 2027.
