Overcoming The Raw Water Crisis, The Ministry Of PUPR Will Renovate The Krueng Aceh Karet Dam Which Was Severely Damaged
ACEH - The Ministry of PUPR through the Sumatra River Basin Center (BWS) I renovated the Krueng Aceh rubber dam which had been damaged since 2003 as a solution to overcome the raw water crisis in Banda Aceh City."The improvement of this dam is to overcome the raw water crisis, because its condition is badly damaged, now it is budgeted for renovation," said Head of TU BWS Sumatra I Khalid, in Aceh Besar, Aceh, Antara, Tuesday, September 19.Khalid said that the renovation work is expected to be completed within 420 days, this process takes a long time considering that the damage to the dam has been going on for 20 years.The renovation of the rubber dam is a suggestion from a member of the Indonesian House of Representatives from Aceh Irmawan, and it is hoped that it can be completed on time so that the raw water crisis in the capital city of Aceh Province can be resolved immediately."The construction of this dam is budgeted for two years, God willing, 2024 will be completed," said Irmawan.He emphasized that currently he is focusing on fighting for infrastructure development in Tanah Rencong, including the irrigation sector such as the Krueng Aceh rubber dam."Therefore, we hope that there will continue to be cooperation from all related parties, and the people of Aceh to encourage the renovation of the rubber dam to be completed quickly," he also said.According to him, the rubber dam has long been proposed along with many people complaining about the shortage or need for clean water in Banda Aceh."Sometimes it's not just the water crisis, it's brown, hopefully this problem will be resolved soon, and we ask for the support of all parties," said Irmawan.Clean water in Banda Aceh is managed by Perumdam Tirta Daroy, and currently it is starting to lack raw water to process clean water, especially during the dry season.The raw water, which is the main source of clean water treatment for Banda Aceh, comes from the Krueng Aceh River, but the river water discharge continues to decrease day by day, especially during the dry season.
This condition was also caused by damage to the rubber dam to accommodate its raw water during the dry season. Therefore, with the construction or renovation, it can be one solution to overcome the lack of clean water in Banda Aceh.
