South Kalimantan Police Collaborate With IT Experts To Reveal The Lost Money Of Bank Customers Of IDR 1.5 Billion
BANJARMASIN - Investigators from the Special Criminal Investigation Directorate of the South Kalimantan Police collaborated with technology and information experts (IT) from Jakarta to be able to reveal the cause of the loss of Rp1.5 billion in accounts belonging to bank customers.
"This IT expert is to ascertain whether he really became a victim of social engineering as claimed by BRI or not," said Director of Special Criminal Investigation at the South Kalimantan Police, Kombes Suhasto in Banjarmasin, as reported by ANTARA, Monday, September 18.
Therefore, said Suhasto, his party ensures that further investigation is carried out, including waiting for the results of the IT expert examination.
"If there are further developments, we will definitely convey it to the public, including whether there is a suspect determination," he said.
The case of the hacking of the account of a BRI customer from Martapura, Banjar Regency, Muhammad, was worth Rp. 1.5 billion.

The victim admitted that the money in his account disappeared on September 3, 2023 when he wanted to make a transaction.
Then he checked the transfer list through the mobile banking application, it turned out that there were 42 transactions to an unknown account.
Surprisingly, even though the transaction limit for victims is only Rp. 500 million, the burglar can make transactions of up to Rp. 1.5 billion.
Due to this incident, the Head of the BRI Kandangan Branch Office I Nengah Budi Harsana said BRI did not replace the lost money due to the negligence of the customer.
BRI has also investigated customer complaints, in which the person concerned is a victim of online fraud or social engineering.
According to him, BRI empathizes with this. However, the bank will only compensate customers for losses if negligence is caused by the banking system.
