Launched In 2025, Jeep Recon Ready To Compete With Land Rover Defender
JAKARTA - In accelerating its electrification plan, Jeep plans to launch an electric version of the Recon as a competitor to the Land Rover Defender in Europe.
Jeep Recon will launch in 2025, following in the footsteps of Wrangler who will switch to electric power. This model will later have extraordinary power to close to 591 dk.
Reporting from Autocar, Friday, September 15, Recon will take the same base as Wagoneer S, which will also be electrified by 2025. Thus, the US manufacturer will expand its reach to seven models by the middle of the decade.
The model will be based on the latest STLA Large developed by Stellantis, making it one of the models using the architecture.
Although Jeep has not disclosed details regarding specifications, it is estimated that the car can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/hour within 3.5 seconds. This also applies to Wrangler. The brand says that the model can cover a distance of up to 643 km.
The recon will be assembled and released for the first time in the US. The model is offered and positioned as the original version of the old Jeep off-road, with options including a removable door and an open roof design, as in Wrangler.

Antonella Bruno, head of European Jeep, said the two models would have slightly different sizes and positions within reach.
'Recon is a unique car, boxy and very capable. It will be at the bottom of the market segment compared to Wrangler," said Bruno.
In terms of design, Jeep Recon adopts a design from Wrangler with small but long box headlights and grips and the bottom of the bumper is raised. However, this car still has an aura to explore, especially when paired with off-road tires.
In addition to Recon, Wagoneer S, and Wrangler, Jeep will launch several other models and will assist in sales in this segment in Europe by the end of 2030.
