List Of Players For The 2023 Asian Games U-22 Indonesian National Team Released, Indra Sjafri: Negotiated Results With Clubs
JAKARTA - A total of 22 names of Indonesian U-22 national team players for the 2023 Asian Games were officially released, Thursday, September 14. According to coach Indra Sjafri, the names chosen were also the result of negotiations with a number of clubs.
Persija Jakarta, Persib Bandung, PSIS Semarang, and Borneo FC are the clubs that contribute the most players with three players for the 2022 Asian Games U-24 National Team.
From Persija there are Rizky Ridho, Dony Tri Pamungkas, and Syahrian Abimanyu. Then from Persib there were Robi Darwis, Rachmat Irianto, and Beckham Putra. From the PSIS camp there were Adi Satrio, Haykal Alhafiz, and Alfeandra Dewangga. Then finally from Borneo there were Daffa Fasya, Muhammad Taufany, and Hugo Samir.
There was a concern that the club would not release its players to defend the U-22 national team at the event which took place in Hangzhou, China from September 23 to October 8. The reason is, the 2023 Asian Games are not part of the FIFA.
"We have had talks with coaches of clubs in Indonesia. The negotiations are also going well and we are bringing in 22 players. We realize that the Asian Games are not FIFA's agenda. That's why we are taking the best steps to discuss with club coaches to find a win win solution," said Indra Sjafri on PSSI's official website.
Of the 22 names brought, six of them are the U-23 national team squad under coach Shin Tae-yong who has just made history because he first qualified for the U-23 Asian Cup finals for the 2024 edition in Qatar. The six players are Daffa Fasya, Rizky Ridho, Dony Tri Pamungkas, Alfeandra Dewangga, Ramadhan Sananta, and Titan Agung.

Meanwhile, PSSI Secretary General Yunus Nusi realized that Indonesian clubs needed his players who are now called up by the national team to compete in Liga 1 2023/2024, which is now entering the 12th week.

The 2022 Asian Games soccer sport will take place from September 19 to October 8. Indonesia itself is in Group F with North Korea, Kyrgyzstan, and Taiwan. Garuda Muda will start the struggle by hosting Kyrgyzstan on Tuesday, September 19. Three days later, Taiwan will be the opponent of the U-22 national team.
