The Style Of Yogyakarta Artists Becomes A Big Influence Of Kunto Aji In Working

JAKARTA - Kunto Aji said that Yogyakarta, the place of birth has a lot of influence in how to create musical works.

Even though he has lived and lived in Jakarta for a long time, the 36-year-old soloist said that Yogyakarta, in terms of people's lives, especially artists in his work, is still the largest part that is difficult to eliminate.

"In my opinion, my mindset is still really Jogja, sometimes it's too relaxed," said Kunto Aji when met at Pasar Minggu, South Jakarta on Thursday, September 14.

On the album Introductory to Purification of Thoughts which was just released today, the way Kunto Aji conveyed a message that was quite serious in a fun way was also influenced by what many Yogyakarta artists had done.

"From Jogja, the art is, how to find fun in various things, how to convey various kinds of things are not too serious, yes, they are Jogja artists," said Kunto Aji.

How do Yogyakarta artists explore, especially in making new works, is also the way when making works.

Exploration too. That is, to find something, sometimes it needs to be sala. Yes, it is the mentality that shaped me until now," he said.

Despite having a big influence from Yogyakarta, Kunto Aji admitted that he had not dared to compose a special song for his birthplace.

"Not yet. Because I don't know, it's quite sacred," said Kunto Aji.

"I feel like I haven't been moved to write a song about Jogja because it's quite sacred for me," he said.
