Indonesia Has Renewable Energy Treasures 3,600 Gigawatts
Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment (Menko Marves) Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan revealed that Indonesia's great treasure is 3,600 Gigawatts (GW), a new renewable energy source.
According to Luhut, this treasure can play an important role in decarbonization efforts in Indonesia.
In addition to potential energy, he said, Indonesia also has other treasures, namely enormous biodiversity with a total of 94 million hectares of rainforests.
"Indonesia has enormous renewable energy potential with a power of more than 3,600 GW, and we will continue to develop an environmentally friendly energy mix," he said at the Indonesia Sustainability Forum (ISF) 2023 event, in Jakarta, Thursday, September 7.
Not only that, said Luhut, Indonesia also has abundant mineral resources. He said, this mineral resource can be used for energy transition.

Luhut said, Indonesia itself has made many commitments to large decarbonization efforts. One of them is collecting energy transition financing worth 20 billion US dollars.
