21 Petakan Houses In Gunung Sahari Burnt, Firefighters Call Fire Sources From Pharmacies

JAKARTA - The densely populated settlement on Jalan Rajawali Selatan I, Gunung Sahari Utara Village, Sawah Besar District, caught fire on Monday, September 4. The fire was reported to have appeared since 16.10 WIB.

A total of 28 fire engines from the Central Jakarta Fire and Rescue Service (Gulkarmat) were deployed to the location to extinguish the fire.

After 112 personnel struggled with fire, the flames began to be extinguished at around 19:00 WIB.

"That's right, the fire can be controlled. Now it's still focused on cooling down," said Sawah Besar Police Chief AKP Dhanar Dhono Vernandhie to VOI, Monday, September 4, evening.

Based on the data collected, there were dozens of plots of houses that were burned down.

"The fire scorched 21 plot houses in RT 04/02, Jalan Rajawali Selatan 1, Sawah Besar District. The cause is still under investigation," he said.

In addition, the Sawah Besar Police have not examined witnesses related to the fire.

"There has been no witness examination. Currently, we together with 3 pillars focus on evacuation for residents affected by the fire," he said.

Meanwhile, the fire extinguishing process was carried out at around 16:20 WIB. The fire is thought to have originated from a pharmacy in the area. Then the flames continued to spread to other buildings.

Head of Central Jakarta Gulkarmat Sub-dept., Asril Rizal, said the object that caught fire was a pharmacy. "The type of permanent building, the Milky Way pharmacy. The cause is not yet known. Currently, the status of the fire is yellow or still cooling down," he said.

It is not yet known that there were casualties or injuries caused by the fire. Three pillars of Sawah Besar District are still collecting data.
