Land In Gorontalo City Allegedly Burned Due To Cigarette Benefit Fire
GORONTALO - A plot of land in Molosipat W Village, West City District, Gorontalo City, Gorontalo was burned to the ground allegedly because of cigarette butts that were thrown away carelessly.
Kapolresta Gorontalo Kota Kombes Ade Permana when directly inspecting the location of the incident said that after receiving information from the land owner, he immediately dispatched the nearest Polres and Polsek personnel to help the fire fighting team.
"When I received information on land fires, I immediately dispatched personnel to the location," said the Police Chief as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, August 30.
He explained that information from the land owner was that the fire came from cigarette butts which were dumped carelessly by residents, who were taking grass to be used as livestock food.
"It is suspected that the fire came from cigarette butts. People's habits when they were working while smoking, then when they finished, the butts were thrown away carelessly," he said.
When the fire broke out, the fire fighting team from the Provincial Government and Gorontalo City, assisted by TNI personnel, Polres and Gorontalo Police, managed to control and extinguish the fire, so that it did not spread to other lands.
Within an hour, the fire was extinguished. There are about two hectares of burned land.

However, he said that his party would still conduct an in-depth investigation related to the intentional element of the incident that caused the land fire.
"We will see if there is an element of intent or not. What is certain is that we are still investigating," he said.
