Police Arrest 19 Suspects From 18 Criminal Cases In Manokwari
WEST PAPUA - Manokwari City Police (Polresta) in West Papua arrested 19 suspects from 18 criminal cases that occurred during August 2023.
"There are 16 general criminal cases and two cases of drug abuse," said Head of the Manokwari Police, Senior Commissioner (Kombes) of the Rivadin Police Benny Simangunsong during a press conference in Manokwari, Wednesday, August 30, which was confiscated by Antara.
He explained that the dozens of suspects arrested were proven to have committed criminal acts such as abuse, motor vehicle theft, violent theft, and fake police cases.
Then sexual abuse of minors, intermediary of public activities, embezzlement, conventional theft, dark toto gambling alias lottery, and illicit trafficking of marijuana-type narcotics.
"The police do not tolerate unlawful activities that disturb the public," said Benny.
He said the National Police was committed to keeping the Manokwari kamtibmas situation conducive, so that community activities ran smoothly and safely.
The police also hope that all components of society, including traditional leaders, religious leaders, and youth leaders, will participate in maintaining security stability in the future.
"We will reveal all criminal cases, but they need a process. The police cannot walk alone, we need support," said Benny.

According to him, cases of violence against women and children often occur in the jurisdiction of the Manokwari Police and have become a concern because some cases have not been reported to the police.
Therefore, the police are increasing the synergy of collaboration with local governments and leaders in the local area, in order to help victims provide reports to get legal protection.
"We have arrested one perpetrator who abused a 4 year old child," said Benny.
