Miley Cyrus Talks About Sinead O'Connor's Open Letter: God Thanks Him
JAKARTA - A month after the death of singer Sinead O'Connor, Miley Cyrus responded to an open letter that O'Connor had revealed in 2013. At that time, OConnor wrote a letter to the singer after his appearance in the music video Wrecking Ball.
Sinead O'Connor said Miley Cyrus' appearance in the video was the result of exploitation of the men around Cyrus.
"I thought there was controversy or reaction, but I don't think I expect other women to demean or reject me, especially women who have been in my previous position," Miley Cyrus said at the Endless Summer Vacation special.
"This was when I received an open letter from Sinead O'Connor and I didn't know about the fragile mental state he was experiencing and at that time I was 20 years old," he explained.
Miley Cyrus said the concept in the Wrecking Ball music video was her own choice and was unrelated or requested by other parties.
"Everything I saw was another woman telling me that the idea wasn't my idea," she said again.
"Our youth evokes trauma in a strange way, and I think I was judged for a long time because of my choice that I was just exhausted, and I was at the point where I ended up making my own choices and decisions," he said.

Singer Sinead O'Connor passed away on Wednesday, July 26 yesterday. Confirmed by the family, the cause of O'Connor's death was not disclosed to the public.
Sinead O'Connor is known as one of the singers who has spoken out loud about social issues. In 1993, O'Connor tore up the image of the Pope while singing Bob Marley's War song on Saturday Night Live. This was done as a form of protest about sexual harassment that occurred in the church.
In 2013, O'Connor wrote an open letter to Miley Cyrus, who at that time appeared open on stage. He reminded Cyrus to be careful with this picture which could later cause her to be 'haraced' by the music industry.
On the other hand, Miley Cyrus has just released her latest single titled Used To Be Young which is a reflection of her career since becoming a child singer.
