The Government Prepares Electric Cars including the BMW i7 for ASEAN Summit Delegations
JAKARTA - Secretary of the Ministry of State Secretariat Setya Utama said the government provided an electric car (EV) as one of the modes of transportation used by delegates from friendly countries during the 43rd ASEAN Summit (Summit) in Jakarta.
Apart from reducing air pollution, the use of electric cars is also to show Indonesia's commitment to continuing to push for zero carbon emissions or net zero emissions (NZE) for friendly countries.
"The line up of electric cars for the series of leaders and also the other delegations has been prepared, yes, starting to designate the leaders using the BMW i7," said Setya, reported by ANTARA, Friday, August 25.
Setya explained that his party had agreed to cooperate with several electric car companies to make this international agenda a success. In more detail, the type of car that will be used by the delegates is the BMW i7 totaling 24 units which are intended as transportation for the leaders of friendly countries.
Then 76 units of Toyota Bz4X for Ministers and High Officials, 52 units of Hyundai Ioniq 6 for senior officials and VVIP guest reserves.
Then EV type Hyundai Ioniq 5 provided 208 units for protocol and security, as well as 150 units of Wuling AirEv as operational vehicles.
Through cooperation between the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) and the DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency, state guests are also planned to use the Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) and electric shuttle buses that have been prepared to transport guests to and from the Jakarta Convention Center (JCC).
"The shuttle is electric, so we are working with the Ministry of Transportation and the Jakarta Transportation Agency. We will use the electric busway later, which has a low deck to serve entry to the JCC," he said.

The 43rd ASEAN Summit will be held in plenary or retreat format on 5 September 2023. Then the following day a Summit between ASEAN and partner countries will be held which will last until 7 September 2023. On 7 September 2023, there will also be an East Asia Summit and ASEAN Plus Three Summit.
On the sidelines of the series of summits there will also be a bilateral meeting among the leaders present.
