32 Delegations Attend The 43rd ASEAN Summit In Jakarta
JAKARTA - Secretary of the Ministry of State Secretariat Setya Utama said that 32 delegates were present at the ASEAN 43rd Summit at the Jakarta Convention Center (JCC) on September 5-7, 2023.
"All 32 guest delegates will be present that we will welcome later," said Setya at the Merdeka Barat 9 Road to ASEAN Summit event reported by ANTARA, Friday, August 25.
He mentioned that of the 32 delegates who will attend, 23 of them are delegates from friendly countries, and 9 from international organizations.
Of the 23 countries, 12 of them are non-ASEAN countries including Australia, Bangladesh, Canada, China, Cook Islands, India, Japan, New Zealand, South Korea, Russia, the United States and Serbia.
Then representatives from 9 international organizations including the United Nations (UN), ASEAN, Pacific Island Forum, Indian Ocean Rim Associates (IORA), World Bank, IMF, World Economic Forum, ASEAN Plus Three Macroeconomics Office (AMRO), and the Trilateral Cooperation Secretariat.
Setya hopes that all invitations can attend the upcoming ASEAN 43rd Summit given the situation that is still considered dynamic.
"There are indications that not everyone can attend, yes, we are still waiting for confirmation from all of them, because this is very dynamic," said Setya.
The Center for Economic Policy Research (PPKE) of the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) Universitas Brawijaya Malang assessed that in the upcoming ASEAN Summit, Indonesia has the opportunity to increase a number of collaborations with partner countries.
