Accelerate EV Growth, MG Holds Discussion Forum With Electric Vehicle Community

JAKARTA - Since returning to the Indonesian automotive industry, Morris Garage (MG) has continued to strive to strengthen his domestic existence.

At the 2023 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS), MG Motor Indonesia has held an in-depth discussion forum with the electric vehicle (EV) lovers community.

The forum was held at the MG booth during the GIIAS 2023 event, with the aim of promoting the role of MG as a pioneer in the development of the electric vehicle industry in Indonesia.

This step was taken to provide understanding to the public from various layers of electric vehicle technology, in line with the Indonesian government's vision to achieve zero emissions (Net Zero Emission) by 2060.

Head of Marketing and Public Relations of MG Motor Indonesia, Arief Syarifudin, stated that the discussion forum with EV fans about electric vehicles has valuable perspective value. This aims to optimally educate the public so that the growth of electric vehicles can take place more quickly.

"This is a valuable opportunity for us to gain insight from industry players and the EV community. We are honored to be part of a significant change in Indonesia's automotive landscape by encouraging EV technology," said Arief in his official statement, Thursday, August 17.

To date, the development of electric vehicles in Indonesia has shown a positive trend. The latest data from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) in the Electricity Sector shows that electric vehicle registration has experienced a significant spike.

The data notes that in 2023, electric vehicle registration will reach 53,000 units. This figure is a tremendous increase when compared to 2022 data which only reached 21,000 units.

MG is also further strengthening its commitment to EV development in Indonesia with a local production plan scheduled to begin in 2024. This plan is expected to have a positive impact on the economy and human resource development in Indonesia.

The British manufacturer has also showcased the ranks of electric vehicles such as MG4 EV and New MG ZS EV at the GIIAS 2023 event. The two EVs have achieved the highest level of security by obtaining five stars from the Euro ANCAP agency.
