Regarding The Ministry Of Environment And Forestry's Recommendations To Remove Pertalite And Replace It With Pertamax, This Is What The DEN Said
JAKARTA - The Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK) asked the public to sacrifice using Pertamax and stop using Pertalite in order to reduce air pollution in DKI Jakarta, which has recently become increasingly worrying. Director General of Pollution and Environmental Damage of the Ministry of Environment, Sigit Reliantoro, said that it was necessary to review the tightening of standard transportation emissions to Euro4.
Responding to this, Member of the National Energy Council (DEN) Satya Widya Satya said the National Energy Council refers to the General Plan for National Energy (RUEN) which has long proposed the use of fuel with a standard Euro 4.
"The DEN refers to RUEN, who has long proposed changes to Euro 4 and even more above Euro 5," Satya told VOI, Wednesday, August 16.
However, Satya also asked the government to rearrange the form of subsidies in force in Indonesia which still provides subsidies to commodities.
"The government continues to maintain people's purchasing power," said Satya.
Satya added that if the subsidy is still at a commodity, the lowest fuel price will be, for example, Pertamax will be the lowest price.
"So the price must be maintained," Satya continued.
Previously, the Ministry of Environment and Forestry recommended 8 ways to reduce pollution in DKI Jakarta. Among other things, the procurement of electric operational vehicles, tightening the standard emission transport to Euro4, procurement of Transjakarta electric buses, emission tests, transition of private transportation to public transportation, conversion to electric stoves, dust control from construction and prohibition of burning open waste.

Previously, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) had also conveyed emission control at a limited meeting held Monday, August 14, 2023. One of Jokowi's directives was to order the acceleration of the implementation of emission restrictions. The instruction was immediately responded to by the Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta Heru Budi.
Budi said the DKI Provincial Government would encourage the shift in the use of fuel for private vehicles. Heru wants high cc vehicles to use fuel with RON 98.
"For example, 2,400 cc must be Pertamax Turbo, so we all people must be disciplined about it," said Heru.
