Lampung Police Arrest 3 Couriers Of 11.3 Kilograms Of Crystal Methamphetamine In Salted Fish Cardboard
The Lampung Regional Police arrested three couriers of methamphetamine with evidence that were secured weighing 11.38 kilograms.
"The three perpetrators have the initials S (43) and U (33) residents of Madura, East Java and AA (29) residents of North Sumatra," said Director of Drug Investigation at the Lampung Police, Kombes Erlin Tangjaya, as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, August 15.
Of the three perpetrators, S and U were arrested at Seaport Interdiction at Bakauheni Port, South Lampung, at the end of June 2023 when they wanted to cross to Java Island.
"From the hands of these two couriers, we found evidence weighing 10.3 kilograms, illegal goods brought by the two perpetrators, known to come from Malaysia. Both of them are international drug syndicates," he said.
The motive for the two perpetrators was to become couriers of methamphetamine because they were tempted by a large fee.
"Both were promised a salary of Rp. 50 million if the goods arrived in Madura. In the action, the methamphetamine was tucked away and disguised by the suspects in the gaps in bags with thin sizes, so it was very disguised, but when the examination, both of them felt nervous and suspicious which made the officers search their luggage bags," he said.
Meanwhile, the arrest of a narcotics courier of the type of methamphetamine AA was carried out at (9/8) at around 22.00 WIB with 1.08 kilograms of evidence.
"AA is an inter-provincial syndicate, where the illicit goods come from Medan and will be sent by the suspect to Bali," he said.

In the action, AA disguised the evidence by hiding it in a plastic jar and put it in a cardboard box containing salted fish.
"Evidence of 1.08 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine he (AA) put it in the trunk of the bus, disguised and put it in a box of salted fish. The suspect will be paid Rp. 15 million after the item arrives in Bali," he said.
Of the three suspects, continued Erlin, the police managed to secure evidence in the form of 1 large pack of methamphetamine weighing 1.08 kilograms, 3 cellphones, 2 backpacks, 8 large packs of methamphetamine and 5 packs of medium size containing methamphetamine weighing 10.3 kg of crystal methamphetamine.
"For their actions, the three perpetrators were charged with multiple articles of RI Law No. 35 of 2009 concerning narcotics with the threat of the death penalty," he said.
