LRT Slows Down In Longspan, Erick Thohir: This Is Not MotoGP

JAKARTA - Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Erick Thohir said the longspan or long-span bridge at the Kuningan intersection had been repaired. Erick also admitted that he understood the speed of the train to slow down on the convex road.

As is known, the Jabodebek LRT longspan at the Kuningan intersection is in the public spotlight. This is because the bend is considered narrow, so the Jabodebek LRT train must reduce speed from 80 km per hour to 20 km per hour when crossing the bend.

"Initially it was repaired and it was finished. Well, it's impossible to be 80 km late, when we turn 80 km. This is not MotoGP, if we turn MotoGP fast, all passengers are tilted, that's impossible," he told reporters, at Gelora Bung Karno, Jakarta, Monday, August 7th.

Erick also straightened out his deputy Kartika Wirjoatmodjo or Tiko's statement that the longspan at the Kuningan intersection was wrong in design. He said, Tiko's statement was an internal review.

Furthermore, Erick said the construction of the Jabodebek LRT is like other infrastructure development where safety is the main thing.

"Pak Tiko Wamen itu adalah sratemen review internal, di mn kita bicara dalam pembangunan airport-airport, pembangunaan juga infrastruktur kita tidak hanya membangun, tetapi memastikan yang namanya infrastruktur secara menyeluruh," tuturnya.

"Mr. tiko said that when he was reviewing things that had happened before. Previously, you know, for example, when we talked about the longspan, it was corrected," he continued.

Erick said that bend construction is not an issue and a problem, as evidenced by the ongoing trial. He said, currently what is being optimized is this software system from the LRT.

"Now what is synchronized is the stop of the train and the gerbang door, that's what Siemens is doing. The train is INKA or the software is Siemens," he explained.

"That's why the Minister of Transportation is also checking from British consultants about this, you know, how about synchronizing so that it fits, that's it. This is what we are testing," he said.
