South Kalimantan Forestry Service Seizes 54 Illegal Logging Wood Cuts
BANJARBARU - Officers from the South Kalimantan Forestry Service (Dishut Kalsel) confiscated 54 pieces of wood from forest additions that occurred in the Banjar Regency and Tanah Bumbu Regency.
"For Banjar Regency, a total of 33 pieces of wood were found in Paramasan District and Pinang River, while in Tanah Bumbu in Teluk Kepayang District there are 21 pieces of mixed jungle type round wood," said Head of the South Kalimantan Forestry Service Fathimatuzzahra in Banjarbaru reported by ANTARA, Friday, July 28.
The discovery of dozens of illegal logs in Banjar Regency began with routine patrols of the Kayu Tangi Forest Management Unit (KPH) team with the Forest Police (Polhut), Forest Security Contract Workers (TKPH) and the Forest and Land Fire Control Brigade (Brigdalkarhutla).
The patrol is a preventive measure against the threat of forest or illegal logging and socialization of forest and land fires prevention (karhutla) in forest areas.
Fathimatuzzahra said the pile of wood found was no man and it was suspected that the perpetrator had already fled after knowing the arrival of the officers.

Likewise, the findings of wood in Tanah Bumbu, joint officers from KPH Kusan assisted by Polhut and TKPH only found piles of wood along with cutting tools in the form of chainsaws left by their owners in Mankalapi Village.
"So everything is still being investigated to find out who the perpetrators are and for people who know please provide information to both care about the prosecution of the perpetrators of forest destruction," he said.
Kadishut also stated that his party's seriousness in improving the quality of the environment, which is not only in terms of planting, is always considered, but the protection side of forests and forest products is also a top priority.
