Extreme Weather In Puncak Papua Tengah, 6 People Reportedly Died
JAYAPURA - The extreme weather that hit two districts in Puncak Regency, Central Papua since June 2023 has reportedly caused six deaths.
Secretary of Puncak Darwin Tobing explained that from the reports received by the six people who died, each came from Agandugume District and Lambewi District.
"On average, residents who died due to fatigue and experienced defecation accompanied by blood," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, July 28.
In fact, he said, a mother was forced to give birth to her baby prematurely due to fatigue while looking for food which caused the baby to die shortly after birth.
According to him, the extreme weather experienced in the two districts has occurred since last June which resulted in dead plants causing people to have difficulty with foodstuffs.
The Puncak Regional Government, said Tobing, after receiving reports of trying to send aid, none of the airlines wanted to fly their planes to Agandugum.

The community has provided security guarantees for aircraft carrying aid to fly to Agandugume so that assistance from the local government is lowered in Sinak which is then transported on foot for two days.
"The Puncak Regional Government is currently trying to make airlines want to transport aid to communities in the area because in addition to logistics, health workers will also be sent," he said.
Lambewi District is a district resulting from the expansion of the Agandugume District.
