Hendra Setiawan/ Mohamad Ahsan Qualified For The Second Round Of The Japan Open 2023
JAKARTA - Men's doubles pair Hendra Setiawan / Mohammad Ahsan qualified for the second round of the Japan Open 2023 after stopping the Korean pair Kim Gi Jung / Kim Sa Rang.
The seventh seed won two straight games 22-20 and 21-15 at Yoyogi Gymnasium, Tokyo, Japan, Tuesday, July 25, 2023 evening WIB. The Daddies is Indonesia's third representative to reach the second round today.
This victory made Hendra/Ahsan strengthen their dominance over Kim Gi Jung/Kim Sa Rang. In total, from nine meetings Hendra/Ahsan won seven times and lost in the other two matches.
Hendra/Ahsan will next face the challenges of other Korean representatives, namely Kang Min Hyuk/Seo Seung Jae. Kang/Seo himself qualified for the last 16 of the BWF Super 750 event after stopping Thailand's Supak Jomkoh/Kittinupong Kedren.
Before this, Indonesia already had two representatives who qualified for the round of 16 of the Japan Open. The two representatives who passed were the women's singles Gregoria Mariska Tunjung and the men's singles Chico Aura Dwi Wardoyo.
