Minister Of Home Affairs Reminds Peaceful Elections To Be A Joint Responsibility
JAKARTA - Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri) Muhammad Tito Karnavian reminded all parties of the peaceful 2024 General Election is a shared responsibility.
Tito shared the responsibilities held by five elements, namely election organizers, election participants, the media, the community and community leaders, as well as security forces.
"There are a number of elements that simultaneously move together to be responsible for presenting a peaceful 2024 election. One is the election organizer, namely the KPU (General Election Commission) and ranks, Bawaslu (Election Supervisory Agency) and ranks, including the government also supports the budget and others," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, July 20.
This was conveyed by Tito Karnavian while attending the Meeting of Peaceful Elections held by the Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Kemenko Polhukam) in Jakarta, Tuesday (18/7).
Regarding the second element, namely the election participants, Tito reminded that to present a peaceful 2024 election, the election participants must be ready to lose or win.
Regarding the third element, the media plays an important role in influencing the public in order to maintain peaceful elections. Next regarding the fourth element, Tito conveyed that high participation in the 2024 General Election will determine strong legitimacy from the community.
"Then the next one (the fifth element) is the security forces to keep the security situation well maintained. So, the orchestration of all parties," he said.

Meanwhile, Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Mahfud MD said that the democratic party not only belongs to the government, but also belongs to all Indonesian people.
Therefore, Mahfud continued, the Senandung Damai Election event is intended to encourage the determination of all parties in realizing the implementation of peaceful elections within their respective roles.
"This is important and peace comes from us," he said.
