Ahead Of Limited Operations, KCIC Conducts Network Cleaning With All Stakeholders
JAKARTA - PT Kereta Cepat Indonesia-China (KCIC) continues to prepare the operation of the Jakarta Bandung Fast Train (KCJB).
To ensure that the Fast Train signaling and communication system runs smoothly, KCIC makes measurements using the Global System for Mobile Communication Railway or GSM-R.
The GSM-R is a network specifically intended for railway communications which is also used in the railway industry in Europe, Saudi Arabia, and China.
The GSM-R network uses 2G networks at a frequency of 900 MHz to provide secure and reliable digital communication.
KCIC Corporate Communication Manager Emir Monti said as high-tech transportation, Fast Trains need reliable communication networks to create the safety of their journey.
With measurements through GSM-R, the Emir said, a higher level of security can be achieved as communications will take place at any time without interruption.
Including, for areas such as tunnels where radio communication was previously impossible, GSM-R was able to overcome them.
"The use of GSM-R will improve safety for passengers, drivers, and maintenance workers," he said in an official statement, Thursday, July 13.
To ensure the smooth running of this communication system, said Emir, KCIC as the Fast Train operator carried out a frequency clearing measurement on Monday, July 10. The measurements were carried out with the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment, the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, Telkomsel, and Indosat using a Comprehensive Inspection Train.
Furthermore, Emir said that this measurement is part of the Fast Train testing and commissioning that has been carried out so far.
GSM-R frequency measurements along the Jakarta-Bandung fast train track are carried out to ensure that the GSM-R frequency is not disrupted and strong enough during fast train operations.

Measurements are carried out as detailed as possible using the instruments available on the Inspection Train and other equipment provided by Telkomsel and Indosat.
"The results of this measurement will be an evaluation of all parties who will soon be followed up in order to provide certainty that the GSM-R frequency used is not intervened by other communication signal networks," Emir concluded.
For your information, the Jakarta Bandung High Speed Train (KCJB) will be opened to the public and paid in October. Meanwhile, on August 18, 2023, a soft opening will be carried out first.
