Maully Gagola Drifts In Legend Bee's Past Memory
JAKARTA - Guitarist Maully Gagola released his first solo single entitled Hanyut via Cadaaz Pustaka Musik. Maully Gagola is the younger brother of the legendary band bassist God Bless, Donny Fattah.
The single he wrote with Uranogaz is a remake of one of the songs contained in the Legend Bee band mini album (EP) entitled Jakarta Rock City which was released in 1992.
The emergence of Legend Bee fronted by Maully Gagola and Uranogaz (bass) and Baruna Priyotomo (vocals) at that time caused various controversies that made the EP withdrawn from circulation just a month after its release. That is one of the reasons Maully Gagola remake and re-release the song Hanyut.
"At that time we were very young and too excited to undergo Legend Bee so that our behavior seemed reckless and wild, considering that at that time I thought we were just lost control so we didn't think about the risks we would experience," explained Maully Gagola in his statement in response to the chaotic news that occurred every time Legend Bee was invited to shoot on television.
"I think we are just young people who are full of freedom in expression while the television crews/broadcasts that year were so stiff in regulating our rock n roll behavior," he continued.
In addition to introducing Hanyut's wider presence, Maully Gagola also has other reasons why she chose the song as the first release in her career as a soloist.
"I took this Hanyut song because this song is my personal song, I wrote this song myself with the help of Uranogasz in writing the lyrics. Incidentally, I see that the lyrics are very suitable for everyday life that many people may experience too," explained Maully Gagola.
Hanyut's single production process experienced several obstacles which made the release delayed for approximately two years. Fransiscus Eko as executive producer and producer admitted that the single production process was very tiring and time-consuming.

Actually, Maully and I have agreed to work on a mini album in which we will introduce 4 songs by Maully Gagola, but in reality, they have just entered the process of making basic music in the second song. I experienced a sick accident that required me to rest for approximately two years. Finally, this mini album project was abandoned plus there was a Covid 19 pandemic which also disrupted the production process," said Fransiscus Eko.
In this single, Maully Gagola was assisted by his older brother Donny Fattah Gagola who played bass, Atev (vocals), Christian Wibisono (drums) and Nova Zahedi (keyboards) who had to die after participating in making the video clip in early June.
Now, Hanyut's singles can be enjoyed and downloaded on various digital streaming platforms (DSP). Meanwhile, the video clip can be watched on the YouTube channel Musicblast.id and Cadazz Pustaka Musik.
