Kia EV6 GT-Line AWD, First Electric Vehicle Joining Queensland Police Fleet
JAKARTA - Since its introduction in March 2021, Kia EV6 has become an extraordinary vehicle from the South Korean manufacturer. As the first electric car Kia to use the E-GMP platform also used by Hyundai Ioniq 5, EV6 has attracted the world's attention.
As a competitor to the Tesla Model 3 compact SUV, this car is one of a series of Kia electric models covering EV1 to EV9. With a futuristic design and an amazing performance, EV6 won the European Car of the Year 2022 award.
Recently, the Queensland police in Australia have added Kia EV6 to their patrol vehicle fleet. This is an important step in implementing electric cars at police institutions.
Authorities in the region selected the EV6 GT-Line AWD variant, although not the highest variant offered by this compact SUV. This car has been changed to a bright yellow color typical of patrol vehicles.
Reporting from the Drive page on Thursday, June 22, the Kia EV6 GT-Line is equipped with two electric motors that produce a total of 320 dk and 605 Nm torque. At incredible speed, this car can chase a criminal vehicle from 0 to 100 km/hour in just five seconds.
In addition to its impressive performance, this compact SUV is also known for energy efficiency. With a battery with a capacity of 77.4 kWh, Kia EV6 can reach a distance of up to 504 km in a single charge.
The addition of Kia EV6 to the Queensland police fleet is in line with the Zero Emission Vehicle 2022-2032 strategy announced by the local government in March 2022. This strategy aims to implement electric vehicles in an effort to reduce exhaust emissions.
Although Kia EV6 is the first electric car introduced in the Queensland police fleet, this is not the first time electric vehicles have been used by authorities in Australia. Previously, the Victorian regional police had tested a Tesla Model X electric SUV over the past four years. The vehicle gave positive results during the trial.
