Extortion Of IDR 4 Billion In Detention Center, Commission III Of The DPR Will Call KPK
JAKARTA - Deputy Chairman of Commission III of the House of Representatives (DPR RI) Ahmad Sahroni said that his commission opened the possibility to summon the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) regarding the findings of illegal levies (extortion) at the KPK detention center which amounted to Rp4 billion in the period December 2021-March 2022. "Maybe we will call the KPK after this trial period because we will carry out a recess," Sahroni said as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, June 21. He explained the reason for the possibility that his party would only summon the KPK during the next trial, because the DPR RI would soon enter a recess period on July 14. "After that, maybe we will call the KPK related to the recent problems," he said. Related to this, Sahroni also assessed the need for an evaluation of the surveillance system within the KPK detention center. "The evaluation is therefore a system that may have been running for a long time, but it is not too late to do what the KPK leadership has done," he said. In addition, he assessed that it must also be carried out employee rotation at the KPK detention center as soon as possible. "On Tuesday, it is possible that rotation will be carried out and the entire detention center activities will be very strict later," he said. Previously, the KPK would remove all employees involved in the case of alleged illegal levies at the KPK State Detention Center (Rutan) at the Red and White House, South Jakarta. "We will carry out temporary exemption from the duties of the positions of the parties suspected to be involved," said KPK Secretary General Cahya Harefa at the KPK Red and White Building, South Jakarta, Wednesday. On Tuesday, the KPK has also made changes to a number of prisoners after the findings of illegal levies (extortion) at the KPK detention center (ret) which amounted to Rp4 billion in the December 2021-March 2022 period.
