Will Increase Immigration In Trenggalek, East Java, Bagong Baru Dam Progress Is 22.5 Percent
JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) has completed seven of the eight dams in East Java Province that are programmed for construction from 2015 to 2024.
One of the dams still under construction is the Bagong Dam in Trenggalek Regency with a capacity of 17.40 million m3 for the development and improvement of the 857 Ha Irrigation Area (DI) in Trenggalek.
PUPR Minister Basuki Hadimuljono said dam construction was followed by the construction of his irrigation network. "Thus, dams built at large costs can be useful because the water is confirmed to flow to farmers' fields," said PUPR Minister Basuki Hadimuljono in a written statement, Friday, June 16.
The Bagong Dam itself is located in Sumurup Village and Sengon which is about 10 km from the city center of Trenggalek Regency. The source of the dam water comes from the Bagong River with a watershed area of 39.95 Km2.
The construction of the Bagong Dam according to the contract has started since December 27, 2018, through 2 work packages with a value of around Rp. 1.6 trillion with the current construction progress of 22.59 percent.
The Bagong Dam was built by the Brantas River Basin Center (BBWS), the Directorate General of Water Resources of the Ministry of PUPR with the main aim of irrigation irrigation in Trenggalek Regency, where superior commodities such as rice and rice fields need irrigation water sources.
The Bagong Dam is also projected to support raw water needs in the Districts of Pogalan, Trenggalek, and Dams of 153 liters/second. With an inundation area of 73.45 Ha, the Bagong Dam also functions to reduce the flood discharge of the Bagong River by 78.44 percent as well as conservation of the Bagong watershed and tourism potential.
Construction of the Bagong Package I Dam was carried out by contractor PT. Abipraya-PT SACNA (KSO) includes preparation, construction of access to the main dam and dam.
Furthermore, Package II is carried out by contractor PT PP-PT Jatiwangi (KSO) including preparation, OP road access, defector building, delegation building, taker building, hydromechanicals, and facility building. Bagong Dam is designed with the Urugan type, Tegak Core zone with a peak height of 82 M and a length of 620 M.

With the completion of the Bagong Dam, it will add to the list of water storage in East Java, which previously completed by the Tukul Dam in Pacitan Regency, Tugu Dam in Trenggalek Regency, Bendo Dam in Ponorogo, Gongseng Dam in Bojonegoro, Nipah Dam in Sampang Regency, Bajulmati Dam in Banyuwangi Regency, and Semantok Dam in Nganjuk Regency.
The dam construction aims to fulfill food security and water security missions in the Government's National Strategic Program carried out by the Ministry of PUPR.
A total of eight dams in East Java are multipurpose dams that function as flood control, raw water sources, irrigation area water sources, power generation sources, and tourism.
