Grand Cherokee Troubles Again, Jeep Recalls More Than 330 Thousand Units
JAKARTA - Automotive company from the United States, Jeep, has been hit by several recall cases recently. Most recently, Jeep withdrew the Grand Cherokee model.
Different from the previous recall case, the affected Grand Cherokee amounted to 331,401 units. This figure is quite large for this case.
Reporting from Motor1, Tuesday, June 13, the trigger for the recall on the model was due to a back spring failure. In more detail, the rear spring can be released while driving.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the models affected by the recall are the standard Grand Cherokee and Grand Cherokee L. In detail, the standard Grand Cherokee affected are 114,302 units and 217,099 units of Grand Cherokee L.
The affected Grand Cherokee L is production from December 5, 2020, which includes the 2021 to 2023 model. Meanwhile, the affected standard Grand Cherokee is production starting May 17, 2021, which includes the 2022 and 2023 models.

The report stated that there were two records of customer assistance, two field reports, and 17 guarantee claims due to the problem. However, there were no recorded injuries, injuries, or casualties due to this problem.
The manufacturer will notify the owner of the affected vehicle starting July 28. Jeep will also contact the dealers from June 8.
Technicians from Jeep will conduct a thorough examination of the rear suspension by making repairs to the coils if necessary.

For this steering problem, Jeep noted that there were 53,965 Grand Cherokee units made between October 19, 2021 and April 4, 2023. Then there were 35,401 Jeep Grand Cherokee L units made between January 27, 2021, and April 4, 2023.
