The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Cianjur Regency, West Java, stated that the connecting road between villages in Leles District, which was covered by landslides due to the Sukabumi earthquake, could be passed by vehicles even though one direction alternately.

Head of BPBD Cianjur Dindin said the handling of landslides was still using manual tools by joint BPBD officers, TNI/Polri, Retana and local residents while waiting for heavy equipment from the Cianjur PUTR service which was hampered due to road conditions.

"Entering the second day, the joint officers' efforts have succeeded in opening some of the road runways covered by landslides along 50 meters with a height of more than 2 meters, so that the flow of vehicles can pass and is no longer isolated," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, June 7.

His party targets that tonight, the village road, which is the main route for the economic activities of residents in a number of villages in Leles District, can be passed normally from both directions after heavy equipment arrives at the location.

Meanwhile, regarding the houses damaged by the earthquake in Leles District, his party has collected data and only one house is moderately damaged and can still be occupied while waiting for repairs assisted by the government.

"No one has fled from the four heads of families whose houses were lightly and moderately damaged, on Tuesday night, they have returned to their homes. We are asking the owner to remain vigilant and repair them immediately," he said.

Dindin asked residents throughout the Cianjur area to remain alert and alert and evacuate immediately if they saw natural signs of a disaster, especially when it rained heavily with an intensity of more than two hours.

"We are also still alerting hundreds of Retana members in each sub-district to monitor and report the situation in their respective working areas and immediately evacuate residents when they see natural signs of a disaster," he said.

BPBD Cianjur Regency, noted that four houses were damaged and a 50 meter long village road was covered by landslides in Leles District, due to an earthquake with a magnitude of 51 centered in Sukabumi Regency.

Secretary of BPBD Cianjur, Rudi Wibowo, said that the earthquake that occurred on Tuesday at 14:23 WIB was felt quite fast by residents throughout the Cianjur area, especially the southern region, so his party immediately collected data.

"Temporary data on damage due to the incoming earthquake, four houses damaged and landslides closed the village road in Sirnasari Village, Leles District, there were no casualties because the owner scattered out of the house," he said.
