Prosecutors Detain Suspects Of East Lombok Setwan Tax Corruption

The prosecutor's investigator detained a suspect in the corruption of the recess tax budget at the East Lombok Council Secretariat (Setwan), West Nusa Tenggara, for the 2019-2020 period with the initials Z.

Head of the Intelligence Section of the East Lombok Kejari Lalu Mohamad Rasyidi said suspect Z, the former treasurer of the East Lombok Setwan, was detained after investigators conducted further investigations at the East Lombok Kejari Office.

"After the examination of the person concerned, we took him to the Selong Detention Center to serve the detention of the prosecutor's deposit. His activities just finished this afternoon," said Rasyidi as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, June 7.

He said suspect Z, who is now a detainee, was entrusted by the prosecutor at the Selong Detention Center for the first period of detention for 20 days starting on June 7, 2023.

For the next step in the handling process, Rasyidi said investigators would immediately complete the completeness of the file.

"When it is completed, we will transfer the file to the research prosecutor. If later the file has been declared complete, then we will carry out phase two, namely the transfer of the suspect and evidence to the public prosecutor," he said.

In handling this case, he said that investigators had not found any indications of other people's involvement. Instead, suspect Z so far indicated that he only enjoyed the recess tax budget for personal needs.

"So far, no involvement of others has been revealed because the taxes that should have been deposited into the regional treasury are allegedly used by the suspect for personal gain," he said.

By finding such indications, investigators named Z as a suspect who had abused his authority by not depositing taxes on the proceeds of cutting the recess funds of board members into the regional treasury.

The nominal tax that was not deposited into the regional treasury amounted to Rp343 million. The hundreds of millions that emerged from the results of the audit of the East Lombok Inspectorate are now complete evidence of state losses.

In this case, investigators named Z as a suspect by applying criminal charges Article 2 paragraph (1) and / or Article 3 and / or Article 8 in conjunction with Article 18 of Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption as amended by Law Number 20 of 2001.
