Denying Jokowi's Intervention Regarding The 2024 Presidential Election, Megawati: How?

JAKARTA - General Chairperson (Ketum) of PDI Perjuangan (PDIP) Megawati Soekarnoputri said she had never put any pressure on President Joko Widodo (Jokowi). She made sure to respect her cadre who became the 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia.

This was conveyed by Megawati after opening the third PDIP National Working Meeting at the PDIP DPP Party School, Lenteng Agung, South Jakarta on Tuesday, June 6. According to her, there is no reason to intervene against Jokowi.

"What is this? That's why journalists like to be mischievous. I can't think what they think, later if I say they should be more straightforward, they will be angry, why should I pressure the president, you have to be able to differentiate," said Megawati told journalists.

Megawati ensured that she would obey the rules even though she was chairperson and Jokowi was her cadre. This is because the former governor of DKI Jakarta was given a mandate by the people at the general election.

"I am a rule-abiding person, you know, if you ask, 'how come, it's possible that Mr. Jokowi will be the one chosen by you, ma'am'. 'Oh, yes. But also chosen by the Indonesian people, after being inaugurated in the MPR, appointed, yes, I respect him as my president," she said.

While joking, the 5th President of the Republic of Indonesia said that her cadre is now being guarded by members of the Presidential Security Force (Paspampres). Thus, it is difficult for Megawati to put pressure on Jokowi.

"So if you say pressure, I want to find out how to pressure? Yes," she said.

"Just look, the troops are just like that, see, see, I don't have troops like that. Earlier I said he, as an Indonesian, I asked what his name was, already the captain's voice was like that, he was 185 cm in height, ouch I was weak, I said to him, "Sir stunting sir". So how do I put pressure," she concluded.
