Sandiaga: Pancasila Presents Democracy Contestation Without Polarization
JAKARTA - Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Uno interprets Pancasila as an ideology, as well as a reference for democratic contestation that unites without polarization.
According to Sandi, Pancasila's Birthday is a reference that not only unites the nation, but also presents insights in accelerating development.
"We believe that Pancasila will present a democratic contestation which was greeted with joy with a national thought, which of course in my opinion is the responsibility of all so that we are not polarized," Sandiaga said as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, June 1.
Sandiaga assessed that with Pancasila as the country's ideology, people have a responsibility for democratic contestation so as not to politicize religious identity and polarization.
According to him, Pancasila is a guideline for the Indonesian people in preparing for the succession of leadership through the 2024 General Election.
He also said that Pancasila's role made Indonesia able to face economic challenges in the midst of the current global situation.
"In a global situation like today which is full of turbulence, promulgation, and perhaps economic challenges, Pancasila after successfully bringing us 78 years to advanced Indonesia," he said.
In his mandate at the Pancasila Birthday Commemoration Ceremony, President Joko Widodo highlighted Indonesia as one of the few countries that has succeeded in maintaining economic, social and political stability, controlled inflation, as well as growing investment and increasing employment amid the crisis that has hit the world.

According to the President, this achievement is a contribution of all the nation's children and thanks to the unity, hard work and mutual cooperation that makes the Indonesian nation successful in facing challenges and is trusted by the world.
"All of that is the foundation of the Pancasila ideology inherited by the first President of the Republic of Indonesia, Engineer Soekarno," he said.
Pancasila, said the President, is an ideology that we must uphold to strengthen the progress of the nation.
