PAPUA - The Papua Province General Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) has mitigated the prevention of the use of political funds from the results of the drug business so that the 2024 General Election in this area runs safely and peacefully.Papua Province Bawaslu member Anugrah Pata said there were indications that the money from the drug business used in the election was a serious concern for all Bawaslu, both provinces and districts and cities."For this reason, we pay serious attention to this information, by tracing the possibility of it happening in Papua," he said in Jayapura, Papua, Antara, Wednesday, May 31.According to Anugrah, even so, until now there has been no report or information about the findings of political funds from the sale of narcotics."But like it or not, we from Bawaslu provinces, regencies, cities must remain vigilant about this by involving parties who have the authority to do so, such as the National Police and Narcotics Agency (BNN)," he said.He explained that the Indonesian Bawaslu had collaborated with the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (PPATK) in February 2023, one of which was the cooperation point related to anticipating money laundering in campaign funds including money from drugs."We really hope that all election participants, both individuals and political parties, use healthy and honest methods based on the rules of the game," he said.He added that because all people saw the actions of the election participants, so that unfair methods should not be carried out or shown which would ultimately harm themselves.
"We certainly want all parties to be involved in guarding this election, because the involvement of all parties in the context of participatory supervision is what will definitely narrow or thwart fraudulent ways. Moreover, we are sure that people are smart to see and judge which politics is healthy and unhealthy,” he said.
