Bertoga, Stefanus Roy Rening Officially Becomes A KPK Prisoner
JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) officially detained Stefanus Roy Rening today, Tuesday, May 9. The lawyer for the inactive Papua Governor, Lukas Enembe, is a suspect in the alleged obstruction of the investigation. "Announcing SR as related to the obstruction of the investigation into the alleged corruption of brother LE," said KPK Deputy Chair Nurul Ghufron to reporters at the KPK's Red and White Building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Tuesday, May 9. The KPK suspects that he hindered the investigation of bribery, gratification, and money laundering (TPPU) on purpose or unintentionally. Among other things, Stefanus asked witnesses in the Lukas Enembe case not to attend and deliberately build an opinion related to the allegations that ensnared his client. As a result of his actions, Stefanus was detained for the first 20 days until May 28 at the KPK Detention. The detention could be extended according to the needs of investigators. Stefanus is now officially in an orange and has been handcuffed. It's just that, still using the commonly used toga during the trial advocate.

Before being detained, Roy said that he deliberately wore the black channel because his profession is now grieving. The reason is that as a lawyer he has the right to immunity or is above the law when defending Lukas Enembe. "This is a symbol that advocates are grieving today because the KPK is implementing the law. So don't just look at the Corruption Act but must look at other laws that follow and must also be their reference," said Roy upon arrival at the KPK's Red and White House.
