KSP: President Jokowi Always Communicates Deeply With Workers

JAKARTA - Main Expert Staff of the Presidential Staff Office (KSP) Fajar Dwi Wisnu Wardhani said Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) always listens and continues to build in-depth communication with workers or laborers.

"In the process of changing the Copyright Act (Cipta Kerja), the President is very concerned about the communication and coordination process, and absorbs the aspirations of all elements, and one of the main elements is the worker element," Fajar said in a written statement in Jakarta, quoted from Antara, Monday, May 1.

President Jokowi, said Fajar, always listens to workers because the workers are the main element in development.

According to Fajar, President Jokowi is also very concerned and tries to meet the needs of trade unions or labor unions in order to maintain the implementation of the national development plan. This is evidenced by the issuance of regulations related to protection and increased competence of workers or laborers.

He gave an example of the issuance of Presidential Instruction Number 2 of 2021 concerning Social Security for Workers, Presidential Regulation Number 68 of 2022 concerning capacity building through revitalizing education and vocational training, as well as Law Number 18 of 2017 concerning Protection for Indonesian Migrant Workers.

"And currently, protection regulations are being prepared for the Protection of Domestic Workers (PPRT)," said Fajar.

Fajar also considered that currently workers have a very significant role in politics. For this reason, he said, workers are expected to participate in maintaining stability and balance, especially in the political year 2023-2024.

"Any efforts made to encourage the interests of workers/labor should be conveyed properly and in a coordinated manner. We will protect together the stability of this political year," said Fajar.

He also emphasized the importance of workers or laborers as well as trade unions or labor unions to increase solidarity and welfare. Workers or laborers are also encouraged to have a more significant role in maintaining social, economic, political and investment stability in Indonesia.
