Police Arrest 2 Cases Of Illegal Migrant Workers In Tanjungpinang
TANJUNGPINANG - Tanjungpinang Police, Riau Islands (Kepri) arrested two administrators of the departure of illegal Indonesian Migrant Workers (PMI) with the initials JK and DM.
"Both are suspected of being involved in illegal PMI smuggling syndicates in Tanjungpinang," said Tanjungpinang Police Chief, Kombes Heribertus Ompusung, quoted by ANTARA, Friday, April 28.
The police chief revealed that the two perpetrators, a resident of Tanjungpinang, were arrested for arranging the departure of a PMI with the initials YT from Jember, East Java.
The chronology of the arrest began when the Tanjungpinang City National Agency for the Placement and Protection of Indonesian Workers (BP2MI) secured YT at the Tanjungpinang Sri Bintan Pura Port (SBP).
At that time, he said, YT was about to leave for Malaysia with the aim of working, however, he only pocketed a traveler's passport.

"The PMI that was secured was illegal. It did not meet the requirements and procedures according to applicable regulations," explained the Tanjungpinang Police Chief.
After the development is carried out, he continued, it turns out that YT will be illegally dispatched to neighboring countries. Departure from East Java to Malaysia via Tanjungpinang, managed by perpetrators JK and DM.
Furthermore, the police immediately moved and finally managed to arrest the two perpetrators in Tanjungpinang, Monday (24/4).
"We are still investigating, it is possible that there are other perpetrators," he explained.
The two perpetrators have been named as suspects in illegal PMI smuggling. Both have been detained and are still being investigated intensely for further investigation.
"We are still developing it to reveal the existence of a PMI smuggling syndicate to Malaysia in the Tanjungpinang area," said the Tanjungpinang Police Chief.
