Dumai Refinery Operates Optimally Again On April 15, KPI Managing Director Ensures Not To Import Fuel

JAKARTA - Main Director of PT Kilang Pertamina Internasional (PT KPI) Taufik Aditiyawarman revealed plans for a recovery unit facility at the Dumai Refinery which was affected by the fire incident on Saturday, April 1.

Taufik explained, based on the capacity improvement plan, it would run normally on April 15.

"The plan for the recovery of the facility unit, first is the capacity improvement plan. The full capacity plan will return on April 15, 2023, and then go through an inspection process," he said in a hearing with Commission VII DPR RI, Tuesday, April 4.

Taufik continued, improvements would be made to the system and hardware before being reactivated.

He also ensured that even though the refinery was operating optimally on the 15th, his party would not import fuel to compensate for the reduced production during the recovery period for the Dumai Refinery.

"In general, with the Dumai incident, it is guaranteed that the supply of fuel, God willing, will not be disrupted and there are no import plans to compensate for the less production from Dumai," explained Taufik.

To maintain reliability and meet fuel needs ahead of Eid al-Fitr, Taufik said his party would optimize fuel production at Pertamina's other refineries.

"We are increasing production at other refineries, which of course is coordinated with upstream and holding to ensure the availability and readiness of fuel during Ramadan and Eid," concluded Taufik.
