Tropical Cyclone Herman, Cianjur Coast Potentially Hit By Waves 5 Meters Until April 6

The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Cianjur Regency has asked residents and fishermen on the southern coast of Cianjur not to be active on the shoreline for the next three days or until Thursday, April 6.

Secretary of BPBD Cianjur Rudi Wibowo said a number of areas on the southern coast of West Java are expected to experience high waves due to the movement of tropical cyclone Herman. This is based on the predictions of the West Java BMKG.

"The impact is that there will be high waves on a number of coastal coasts in West Java, including on the southern coast of Cianjur, so we have appealed to residents and fishermen to be prepared for disasters and evacuate immediately if they see natural signs of a disaster," he said in Cianjur, West Java, Tuesday, April 4, which was confiscated by Antara.

Rudi said his party had alerted officers to supervise and urge residents who were still active on the beach because the potential for high waves of 2-5 meters could threaten safety.

Not only residents on the coast, but his party also asked residents in areas prone to floods and landslides throughout Cianjur to remain vigilant and alert and evacuate immediately, especially when it rains heavily with an intensity of more than two hours.

"Cianjur is the second highest disaster red zone in West Java, so all areas that are prone to disasters are prone, especially when it rains heavily with high intensity. Cross-sectoral coordination is often carried out for quick handling efforts," he said.

Rudi added that for quick handling when a landslide occurred, especially in the southern region, his party had asked the Ministry of PUPR and the Cianjur PUTR Service to alert heavy equipment at vulnerable points such as Nariggul and Sukanagara.

"For heavy equipment, the ministry is usually alerted on the Bandung-Cianjur route, precisely in Naringgul District, if the heavy equipment of Cianjur PUTR is alerted in Sukanagara District, so that when needed it can be used immediately," he concluded.
